The department offers both a Ph.D. in philosophy and a terminal M.A. The Ph.D. program includes several special interdepartmental programs including the Ph.D. in Philosphy and Humanities, the Graduate Program in Cognitive Science, the Special Track in Philosophy and Symbolic Systems, and the Joint Program in Ancient Philosophy. In addition we allow for the possibilty of setting up special graduate programs for students who may need to spend a large amount of time preparing themselves in some other discipline related to their philosophical goals.
The M.A. program includes a Special Program in Symbolic Systems and a Special Program in the Philosophy of Language. It is possible to earn an M.A. in philosophy while earning a B.A. or B.S. through our Coterminal program.
