An Engineered World, published by MIT Press, examines how engineering, as a modern profession, emerged as a global phenomenon—and why its development and expansion are critical to our understanding of twentieth-century world history and global capitalism.

Collection editors Edward Beatty and Israel Solares will share their co-authored introduction titled “Introduction: Toward an Engineered World” with commentary to follow from Christian Robles-Baez, a PhD Candidate in Stanford's Department of History. Mikael Wolfe will share his chapter from the edited collection titled “Engineering Scientists in Mexico, 1876-1911: The Case of Meteorology,” with commentary from Stanford Department of History PhD student Gabriel Panuco-Mercado. This event follows the book’s launch the day before; we hope to see you there!

Please join us on Friday, April 3, from 12-2 PM in Lane History Corner, Room
