SPEAKER: Professor Derrick Darby, Philosophy, University of Michigan

Professor Darby’s main research has been in social and political philosophy, focusing especially on questions about the source and value of rights, informed by the legacy of race and racism in the United States. His theory can be found in Rights, Race, and Recognition (Cambridge, 2009). His current interests lie at the intersection of social justice, social inequality, and race.
