PhD Alum Susan Levin talks about her new book

PhD Alum Susan Levin, Professor of Philosophy at Smith College, writes to us about her new book:

"Greetings from a graduate alum! I'm Professor of Philosophy at Smith College, where I've been on the faculty since receiving my PhD from Stanford in 1993. I have very fond memories of my time at Stanford and wanted to let you all know of my new book, Plato's Rivalry with Medicine: A Struggle and Its Dissolution (Oxford University Press, 2014), which investigates Plato's relationship to medicine as a competing authority on nature and flourishing. Based on its main argument involving Plato and medicine, the book's concluding chapter considers Plato's importance to contemporary bioethics, which is as yet virtually untapped. For a taste of what I'm up to in the book, please check out my recent blog post:http://blog.oup.com/2014/10/plato-contemporary-bioethics/

With very best wishes,
Susan Levin
