Most of what I've written in recent years pertains to practical philosophy, broadly construed, and it's mostly undertaken from a "kinda Kantian" perspective. My recent projects (including my dissertation), all seem to come back, in one way or another, to the idea of the 'person', to a certain conception of what personhood is, and what it means for our thinking about morality and politics.

Mind: "Peoples as Persons: Rousseau, Democracy, and the Moral Personhood of the State," arguing that the people's status as a moral person is the lynchpin of his elusive argument for popular sovereignty.

Journal of Ethics & Social Philosophy: "Parents and Peers: A Kantian Moral Development," offering an account of the transition from infancy to our developed state of moral imputability, moral personhood.

In a long-standing appreciation for philosophy practiced in the generalist spirit, I've made an effort to stay involved in many areas.  Along these lines, I'm co-chair of the Philosophy & Literature initiative, and I started and continue to organize the 'German Philosophy Group.' The former is dedicated to the intersection of philosophy, literature, and the arts, and the latter to the history of German philosophy, broadly construed.
