The Graduate Student Workshop (GSW)

Students sitting on steps

The Stanford philosophy department's Graduate Student Workshop provides a forum for graduate students interested in philosophy to present their work and discuss it with one another. The setting is fairly informal and is designed to be low-stakes for all the participants.

Sessions are typically divided into 45-minute halves: in the first half the speaker presents some recent work (or thoughts on potential work to be done); in the second half the speaker fields questions from the audience. Pizza is provided for the nourishment of all participants.
