Tanner Library Access Policy

Tanner Library’s study space is open to current Stanford students, faculty, and staff, as well as Stanford alumni, visiting scholars, visiting faculty, guest speakers, and guests of the Philosophy department. Patrons will be asked to show their Stanford ID when entering.

Tanner Library has limited space, therefore, we are unable to permit non-Stanford affiliated patrons to use Tanner as a study space. These patrons include visitors who have purchased SUL library access-only cards, access and borrowing cards, or have registered for 7-days-a-year free library access. Such patrons may use other SUL spaces on campus available to visitors. Visitors with library access and borrowing cards wishing to check out materials from Tanner may do so upon request. Please contact the Tanner Librarian for assistance.

For more information on SUL access and use policies, please refer to SUL’s General Policies and Visitor Access pages.
